NOW SOLD to David in Colorado! Congrats on taking home Bugeye # 415!!
Marvin, Marvin Marvin!!!!
Marvin has had a list of improvements made this week, so if you’re looking for an inexpensive Bugeye Sprite, Marvin is on the rise and worth a serious look.
This week, we put four brand new (black wall) 155 tires on the car. We’ve also upgraded the rear suspension with new radius arms and rear shocks, and now Marvin drives quite nicely! I think Marvin looks better with black wall tires, but you be the judge. You’ll see the white walls in some of the old photos, but the black wall photos you see (like above) are the newest pictures.
Above is a new video of a 0 to 60 run in Marvin, and you can see the car is quite capable for all your summer adventures! This car is quick and sounds great, with a much improved ride courtesy of the new tires and rear suspension upgrade. Take a look at the rest of the post below and give us a call if you’re interested in adopting this fun car!
This is Marvin’s car (from Boston,) so we call it “Marvin”, and it’s a great budget Bugeye!
AN5L 18904 is a 1959 Bugeye had been sitting for some time after long-term ownership by one couple who cared for the car for many years. We resurrected it from its long nap this past week and now Marvin is ready and priced nicely for anyone looking to get into the world of Bugeyes at a very reasonable price!
The throwout bearing had worn severely, which was the main reason the car sat idle; we removed the engine and transmission, put in an a rebuilt excellent rib case transmission and new clutch assembly and throw out bearing, and now Marvin drives with style!
We’ve also installed new premium front lever shocks and replaced all of the hydraulic parts, so that’s all been refreshed, and now you’ve got a great driver you can drive anywhere. In fact, it’s rare to find a Whitehall Nevada Beige Bugeye, and this car still has a nice shine.
Underneath we have a somewhat amateur restoration, but for the price you end up with a great Bugeye you can enjoy right away and clean up as you go. Marvin comes with a well-fitting tonneau to protect the cockpit, as well as a pair of side curtain cores, a two-piece top bow and an older top.
The prior owner built a partition for the rear boot area, which you can see in the photo gallery. That divider can be easily removed to access the trunk, or removed entirely, if you prefer.
If you’re looking for an entry-level Bugeye with 1275 power at a very reasonable price, Marvin is worth a serious look! Click “read more” below for the full compliment of photos and give us a call if Marvin you want to take Marvin home!
