This 1973 Mg Midget (GAN5UD133042G) is an awesome starter car for anyone looking for a fun runner for not a lot of dough! The prior owner put on nifty minilight wheels and electronic ignition and the car already has roll up windows, sway bar, 1275, rib case transmission and more!
There are some minor cosmetic needs but the car presents nicely and at this price, it’s a ton of car for the money!
If I was sixteen with a newly minted driver’s license (and an interest in British cars), I would be all over this car. While it’s not a Bugeye, for just $5,000, here’s a sports car at a price that allows anyone to get their hands dirty without getting into too much trouble.
The car is really nice to drive and need some minor sorting, but it’s all accessible and fun stuff … for example, the motor mounts are worn, but that’s not too hard to fix and that’s the main item on my very short punch list. The tires are from 2011 with plenty of tread and the Minotaur wheels look nice in their polished finish.
The hydraulic clutch and brake master cylinders are recent and ready to go. The cosmetics can be refreshed at your own pace. The body is solid, floors are good. There are just a few minor blisters on the rear fender bottoms as shown in the photos. The interior is good, and the gauges all work. The odometer reads 91,919. The car was originally white and painted red at some point along the journey.
We want to encourage new people to get into the hobby and this is a really nice entry point for the money so if the new buyer for this car is under 30 years old, we will give them a $200 gift certificate for parts in our catalog to make it even more attractive for the next generation to get started with Spridgets!
