Now SOLD to Glenn in California! Bugeye #398 is headed West!
This is “Jesse,” (AN5L 31196), a striking Bugeye Sprite that has been well-sorted with all the right upgrades. The car belonged to the editor of the Austin Healey Club national magazine and he made sure it was right. This is the one to get for anyone looking for a premium car that is highway capable and a delight to drive.
The car is was repainted in Nevada Beige, one of the more rare original Bugeye colors. It’s a stunning color on the car, especially with the nearly new correct red interior.
The Datsun five-speed conversion is sweet, and gives the car a fully synchronized gearbox as well as overdrive for highway cruising. Disk brakes in front, drum in back. Lots of great choices were made by the restorers to produce a very capable Bugeye.
An alternator conversion has been done, poly bushings for the front sway bar are in place, tires are recent, optima battery is nice, three point seat belts have been added, underside is excellent. I like this car a lot, very clean with good equipment.
We’ve put on a new matching red top and new door seals, and I would change the air filters to our K and N lifetime filters and address the center exhaust pipe, which I would replace. It works fine but looks a little dodgy. We can do that for the new owner, as well as fit a new red short tonneau, which would look great! Heritage certificate included too!
