This is a car we call “Midnight” (AN5L 8136), a 948-powered, Ford five-speed Bugeye we are pleased to offer! We last sold Midnight in February of 2018 to its last owner in Arizona, where it has enjoyed its last 5 years in the sun, and now its back in Connecticut, ready to meet you!
We performed thousands of dollars worth of upgrades for the prior owner before we shipped it to them in 2018. The list is pretty extensive, and includes one of our exclusive ignition guillotines, three-point retractable seat belts, LED parking and brake lights, a new custom white tonneau and bikini top, top, side curtain, and top bow bags, tri-bar headlights, new door seals, and more!
In addition to these cosmetic improvements, Midnight was also provided with a vast array of mechanical upgrades, which include tapered front wheel bearings, an aluminum radiator, a new electronic distributor, new fuel tank, fuel line, and new isolators for the electric fuel pump, new front sway bar, steering column bushings, swivel axle bushings, new rack boots and tie rod ends, new upgraded front shocks, a rear main seal upgrade kit, and of course, the ultimate upgrade, a five-speed transmission with a brand new clutch to match!
Midnight has drum brakes on all four wheels, fully serviced in 2018 during its last stay in our shop. The car drives well with the five-speed and stops well with the drum brakes; should the new owner desire, front disc brakes can certainly be fitted to really add an extra layer of stopping power to this great machine. In fact, all of our cars are able to be upgraded to the new owner’s tastes and desires, and we are happy to do any upgrades you want to make to further enhance your Bugeye experience!
The car has spent these last four and a half years in Arizona, soaking up the sun in the Southwest. The previous owner has put under 1,000 miles on it since 2018, so Midnight has not been used much. The underside is solid. The car shines beautifully, with only a few paint imperfections. This is a great driver, great fun, and you’ll enjoy the delightful Ford five speed transmission, easy to shift, fully synchronized with overdrive. The five speed transmissions make these cars a lot more user friendly.
