This week we are ecstatic to be able to offer to you “Bluey” (AN5L 42453), a 1960 Bugeye that came to us this week from its most recent home in Florida. Bluey has a lot of popular upgrades already fitted and is ready for its next home!
This car is painted in a beautiful shade of light blue, a little bit lighter than Iris Blue, (an original Bugeye color). The interior is a contrasting shade of a darker blue, with piping accents that closely mirror the exterior color. This week, Bluey got some interior work done, which included re-covering the dash trim bar, and installing new top bar holders (the originals were missing).
A really neat set of two-point racing-style lap seat belts are installed, but we would love to install a set of three-point retractable seat belts if the new owner so desires. Bluey came to us with a black top that’s a little tight, and a weird combination short/long tonneau with both sets of fittings installed; you can choose to leave these as they are, they both do their jobs well, but we think this car would look REALLY sharp with a new blue top and matching short tonneau and we would be happy to fit these for Bluey’s next owner!
Under the bonnet, Bluey is powered by a 1275cc engine that runs smoothly. It is coupled to a Datsun five-speed transmission, a welcome upgrade from the stock 4-speed unit that would have come in this car. I have these Datsun five-speeds installed in several of my own personal British cars, including Gumby and our Morris Minor, and we have never encountered any type of issues with them. As I previously noted, many popular upgrades are already present on Bluey, including an aluminum radiator for better cooling and K and N air filters, which will last for the life of the car.
This car handles really well thanks to its front anti-roll bar and minilite wheels with newer 175 tires. Bluey has front disc brakes fitted already, which is an awesome reliability and performance upgrade. This week, we installed a brand new master cylinder and new rear wheel cylinders to ensure leak-free and consistent hydraulic operation. We also installed a new heater valve and hoses, as well as a new choke cable.
If you think Bluey would look good in your collection, give us a call! We ship cars all over the world!
