We’ve been growing our business and spending our days immersed in the classic car market long enough to survive the great recession, the pandemic and other economic up and down turns.The classic car market remains very strong. For example, we sold our Lotus Elan last week in less than an hour. So if anyone thinks that the market has cooled, there are plenty of buyers out there and many people who still see classic vehicles as an asset class that provides a lot of fun and great value.
Bugeye prices have been trending upward and big Healey prices seem to be trending slightly down. That means that for your money, a big Healey right now is one of the best deals going. These cars are stunningly beautiful with an ageless shape and a timeless design that will delight for generations. And they have overdrive, which makes highway cruising more available!
It’s hard to imagine that Big Healeys will go down in value much more than they have already. Over the years, it has been common to find these cars for $70K, $80K and even $100,000 in well restored shape and this week we’re reducing the price of our beautiful green 1960 BT7 to $55,995.
Quite frankly, that’s a steal!
This car has a recent valve job and hardened valve seats (for unleaded gas) and she’s (ready to be used and driven to shows (or wherever you like). This is a good one and I encourage you to give it a serious look!
This is a 1960 Austin Healey 3000 Mark I BT7 (VIN HBT7L8403), an exceptional driver that you can also show. It’s an impressive ride inside and out!
I’ll forever be enamored by any nice British Racing Green Big Healey with chrome wire wheels- they are sharp vehicles with voluptuous curves. The BT7 is the 2-plus-2 Variant of the 3000 Mark I, as is denoted by the presence of two small seats behind the driver’s seat. They were the more common flavor of Mark I 3000s, as opposed to the 2-seat BN7s, which were built in smaller numbers.
The underside of this car was beautifully restored about 25 years ago in California, and I believe this to be a California car for the entirety of its life until it came to Connecticut in 2010. The owner who purchased it in 2010 has maintained the car meticulously, and there is a mountain of receipts that come with the car documenting all of its maintenance and improvements. Recently, in fact, the last owner removed the head and had it completely reconditioned to run on unleaded gas with hardened valve seats. We have a photo of the head looking brand new from the machinist before installation, so there isn’t much mileage on the top end of this engine.
This car also has a stainless steel exhaust system, which produces a perfect exhaust note. If you’re unfamiliar, Big Healey six-cylinder engines always sound fantastic, and the early 3000s in particular had a straighter system than the later cars, with a single resonator that I think provides the best sound of the entire Healey range.
Front disc brakes are present as with all BT7s. The top, top bow and tonneau are all in nice shape. The side curtains are not perfect but usable in a pinch. The Interior overall is in excellent condition.
