This was a big week for us on many levels. We were finally able to take delivery of the first production Bugeye Sprite, AN5L501 (you can read more about that here). But we were also able to put the finishing touches on one of our electric FrogE Bugeye conversions.
We’ve made dozens of improvements on this car in the last four weeks after it sold; it’s superbly rewarding for us to be able to have this wonderful product that retains the DNA of a Bugeye Sprite, but with an extra-smooth, silent, leak-free power plant. It’s quiet, it’s calm, and it’s quick. It was fun to take what we love most about Bugeyes and add to it a whole new electric drivetrain. This is the best electric car we have ever built.
In the video above, you’ll see a walk-around tour describing how to operate such a vehicle, should one be in your future. Because so many major auto manufacturers are committing to “electric only” in the next 10 years or so, I have a feeling that electric conversions will play a larger part in our lives than we realize. For those of us who love classic cars so dearly, this particular car is a great example of what can be done to retain the feel of a great classic car that includes electric guts.
This video was made for the new owner, but you can watch along and see a tour of how one might interact with this platform from the consumer’s perspective. Whether it’s 1958 technology in car #501 or 2022 technology in this FrogE, Bugeyes never fail to disappoint!
In addition to the electric-specific bits on this FrogE, several upgrades on this car are also available in our catalog! Check out a few of those add-ons below!
