Here’s something a bit different this week… I’ve owned this 2003 Honda since 2006. Since then, I have enjoyed about 17,000 delightful and trouble free miles on this fantastic machine. Now it’s time to let someone else enjoy it. I am just not using it anymore, as I spend all my open road time in customer cars preparing them for departure!
Someone is going to get a spectacular bike! Ive owned this bike all these years because I had not been able to find any other motorcycle like it; it felt so intuitive, so easy to ride well, and is so wonderful at accommodating high highway speeds and wonderful sport riding at the same time. The saddlebags and rear top bag accommodate a massive amount of groceries for errands or luggage for a tour, and my wife and I have enjoyed some wonderful rides up to Northern Vermont and beyond on this fantastic machine.
The ABS brakes are exceptional, and of course it’s full of all kinds of Honda features that bring reliability and functionality to the best levels. I can’t say enough about this bike. I rode a whole bunch of sport tours before I chose this one way back in 2003; I felt that this was just the finest product of the bunch, and for the $5500 that I’m asking I would challenge anyone with a new $25,000 sport tour to see if this Honda wouldn’t hold its own for them.
You’ll need new tires. I haven’t changed them in a while. What you do get is an amazing array of accessories that were fit by the original owner; in particular I love the fork lights for improved forward visibility and the excellent driving lights which activate along with the high beams that light up the road beautifully, even on a moonless night. There are also aerodynamic strips that are a popular upgrade on the fairings and a fender extension on the rear fender, as well as a small extension on the front fender.
The very expensive headlight lens is shielded by a Lexan guard so that you won’t ever break it and I fit a slightly taller and more aerodynamic windscreen on the front with a vent to minimize wind noise. This bike has an adjustable windscreen, so when you’re in “race” mode you can lower it electrically with your left thumb, and when you’re touring on the highway you can re-raise the shield for a more upright protective stance. Also fitted are grip heaters and a somewhat simple mechanical cruise control that works just fine. The foam grips are pleasant, as is the stock and adjustable seat.
I found this bike also a joy for two-person riding; in fact, my wife and I completed the motorcycle safety foundation advanced course riding this bike up through all the drills without incident. It was quite a lot of fun! In short, this is a smooth, vibration-free machine that has exceptional acceleration, wonderful gas mileage, a big fuel tank underneath the airbox, a locking gas cap, locking and removable side bags, and I even have the inner Honda soft luggage to fit inside the saddlebags!
I really love this bike. It’s an excellent cosmetic condition as well and I’ll be sorry to see it go, but it’s time for it to move on to a new home. If you’re a rider in good physical shape you’ll love this machine! I’m 5’8″ and it’s a very big bike for me, but I found it very well balanced and very easy to maneuver even though it weighs about 550 lbs. I had no trouble doing figure eights two up in the motorcycle safety course because it’s so well-balanced and so pleasing to ride, so if you’re a rider and you’re looking for a great sport tour I can’t say enough about this bike. I have the records all the way back to new courtesy of the first owner from whom I purchased the bike.
Check out the videos above that give you a sense of how wonderfully the bike looks and rides! Give us a call or email if you’re interested and I’ll be delighted to share more or take you on a FaceTime tour!
