Old English car issues are sometimes very easy to diagnose. When stuff leaks, there is a problem, except, of course, when it’s leaking oil, which is inevitable, and which is only really a problem when it floods your driveway or stains the tops of your shoes.
One nice thing about hydraulic fluid (when it leaks somewhere other than onto your beautiful paint job) is that it blisters paint (on parts). And so, as in the case of the photo shown above, we have a self-diagnosing issue. The brakes worked great on this car, but the paint is failing on right front caliper, which can only be from a hydraulic fluid leak on the outboard piston, and thus the paint shows the leak, well before the caliper seal fails. Thanks, Mr.Leak!
A new pair of calipers fixes this, which is exactly how we resolved this problem. Make sure to take a look at your calipers once in a while, and make sure they are not leaking and blistering too!
