
It’s a bit overwhelming to consider what you are looking at here… with just 45 HP, this little 948 engine cracked a crank.
How did this happen? Maybe someone dropped it when the engine was rebuilt. Maybe it was over-revved. Lots of A series engine crankshafts have cracks where the counterweights meet the journals.

This is what happens when they fail. This is a reminder to check your engine oil level, regularly.
1275 engines are stronger. If you are rebuilding any engine, make sure to magnaflux the crankshaft first.
