Here’s a parts car for sale that needs a complete restoration. In the old days, this would be a parts car only. Nowadays, it wouldn’t surprise me to see someone bring this car back to the road. Bugeyes have become more valuable, reality TV makes it seem like anyone can do it, and Bugeyes remain simple cars with a plentiful parts inventory. You will need floor, rockers and a left rear fender (which we have for an extra fee for the new owner, if desired). It’s a huge project. But if the right person comes forward, we are happy to help make this car run and drive again!
This Bugeye (AN5L 36370) was originally leaf green and was purchased and titled on March 14, 1961 as confirmed by the original title included with the car. The car stayed in the family since then, and was sold to us by the son of the original owner. The engine is an original 948 engine and it is free/will turn, but we did not attempt to run it.
The entire underside of the car needs to be replaced with new sheet metal (which we have available).

The unibody structure of Bugeyes is stout, but when there is rust in all these areas, the bottom of the car can’t support the spring load and eventually, the spring box levers out of the bottom of the car. Once the floor is removed and perhaps the car is mounted on a rotisserie, we sell new spring boxes to weld in place and anchor to new sheet metal in the rear bulkhead.
This is the original dark green interior in a leaf green car. Those are the original green rubber door liners and green door pockets.
