NOW SOLD to Paul in California! Congratulations! You got a great one!
Here’s a striking and quick Speedster replica guaranteed to turns heads. You’ll notice we chose a “Carrera” badge for the back deck on this one because this car is not like any of the six other Speedsters we have had… it’s the quickest, and clearly there is something special about this powerplant.
You might find other Speedster replicas listed online, but remember, just like any classic car, they need sorting… and the common stock power plant is also somewhat pedestrian. For almost 15 years we have been sorting and upgrading British roadsters, and we bring that experience to the Speedsters we prepare as well. This car is fully-sorted and much faster. See for yourself in the driving video below:
This 1956 Speedster replica was built in 2014 and is still virtually brand new, with just about 1700 miles. We have re-powered the car with a brand new zero mile 2276cc modified VW engine with about 150 HP along with a superb custom stainless steel exhaust system and header, with a single outlaw stinger tail pipe.
We’ve also installed custom larger diameter heater boxes so we could retain a heater in the passenger compartment. Many of these modified cars have the heater boxes removed, but we used custom larger diameter heater boxes so that there would be no exhaust restriction or performance reduction, while retaining cockpit comfort for the new owner, especially for an owner who lives in a cooler climate.
This twin Weber carb-equipped engine turns this replica into a rather spirited performer, and this car is a hoot to drive. The car retains the classic flat four air-cooled sound at idle, but get on the gas and this car comes to life with impressive performance not available in your average 356!
This car came from California by way of Florida, and is quite pristine. Trunk is immaculate, distressed glove-leather interior is excellent, Sony removable face sound system is installed and the steering wheel is a great Nardi model.
I drove this car about 50 miles before we removed the engine in favor of the more powerful engine we have just installed. Everything works, and this is a well-sorted car. It’s a luxury to have the freedom with a replica to upgrade power (and anything else) to make a great car something spectacular! We’ve just replaced the nearly new steering box with an upgraded new model for a more precise road feel!
Nearly new side curtains are included in a protective pouch. The black stayfast canvas top is also excellent, made from premium material. The car also comes with a stayfast vinyl top boot cover
The car is titled as a 1964 VW and can be registered/titled anywhere. Call if you have questions or if you would like to take this car home!
Check out the engine specs below, she starts and idles smoothly, and is well mannered, just like you would expect, but when you get on the gas, get ready for spirited performance that is certain to put a smile on your face!
