Thank you for the outpouring of congratulations for reaching the 300 Bugeyes sold milestone! I received more emails than I could handle and to all of you who wrote to celebrate, we are so grateful!
Thank you!!!
Several of you who wrote speculated about this image above:
This is our team pulling a windshield to body gasket into the bottom of a Sprite windshield frame. If you are unfamiliar, the rubber seal between the body and the frame needs to be pulled into a “T” channel. No matter how much lubrication, this can sometimes be a difficult job, especially if the aluminum track is distorted.
More often than not, these are difficult jobs because the parts don’t fit. Some of the gaskets out there also have too large a profile and will not fit into the track no matter how hard you pull. (If you want to order the correct sized gasket, you can find it here)
If you are restoring a Sprite, you should use our online parts catalog. We use everything we sell. No one else has built 300 Bugeyes and no one has more experience getting things to fit. We know what works and what doesn’t, and if we can’t get a better part, we’ll tell you how to make what IS available work for your car.
We buy from everyone (we can’t make everything ourselves). But if you want to know your parts were actually tested on an actual Sprite, buy your parts from us.
Above, you can see Austin rebuilding no less than 44 ignition switches. These are all brand new. But before we sell them, we test the circuits and check for mechanical issues, and only when they pass are they built-up with bezels and guillotines. Many of these new parts arrive broken right out of the box so we test them to save you the trouble!
This is a perfect example of what we go through to make Sprites work properly… we buy new parts and sometimes have to rebuild them before we can put them on the cars we restore… or before we can send them out to you!
We give great tech support too, if you haven’t met Samantha yet with a phone call to our shop, she has a degree in Auto Restoration from McPherson College and has a lot of experience with the issues Sprite restorers routinely face, and she is here to help.
We are very committed to our parts catalog and look forward to sourcing new parts solutions in the years to come!
