Nine months after she arrived from Houston, we’ve stripped and disassembled every inch of this Sprite, and built it all back-up again into something very special. We’ve installed a new 1275 engine, supercharger, alternator, aluminum radiator and more, to sort-out and tighten-up a somewhat loose and sloppy Bugeye. Come for a drive in the final product below to hear the great exhaust note of our twin-tipped muffler!
This car had floor pan rust, along with rust along the lower perimeter, that was all cut-out and re-welded. We then painted the entire tub in the correct original cherry red color as seen below.
Next, we installed a newly rebuilt 1275 engine and supercharger, along with aluminum radiator, new master cylinder and more.
The interior came with a dashboard and gauges from a later Sprite, which we worked to optimize since it was in nice shape. We added a black vinyl covering to the raw aluminum front trim bar that arrived with the car, to encircle the dashboard and make for a great two-tone look.
Red seat belts, new panels and new carpet also helped make the interior stunning,
We further upgraded the interior with a wooden steering wheel and upgraded horn push.
And when the fully integrated and restored car can hold its own on the highway, zip-through turns and stop straight and true, then we know we have something very special, that will last for generations, and delight drivers and pedestrians alike. That’s when we know a car is worthy of my signature.
