NOW SOLD to Bruce in Cypress, Texas! Awesome choice and congratulations!!!
“Zippy” is a 1275 and front disk brake-equipped 1960 Bugeye that enjoyed a roughly $25K restoration in our shop, that included manipulating and/or replacing nearly every mechanical component (and many cosmetic ones too). You can see a video drive and tour below!
We sent the car to it’s home in LA this past Winter, and the owner put about 600 miles on the car. But he wanted more… gears (five speed) and brakes (upgraded and larger front disks and rear disks as well). We picked up the car for these upgrades, but rather than take on phase two of the project, he decided to sell me the car instead.
So now some lucky new owner will enjoy the fruit of our labor and a massive investment by the former owner. This car enjoyed about 100 hours of pampering and repair, and now you can buy it at a steep discount, considering what has been spent.
The car looks just right: a little more aggressive… A little lower… a little raw. Maybe that’s how Bugeyes should be. That’s why it’s a favorite. It sounds great. It performs beautifully. And it makes you feel like you’re Steve McQueen when you drive it.
We installed a new wiring harness, new aluminum radiator, brakes and hydraulics, upgrade shocks, limited slip differential, sway bar, brand new SU carbs, K&N air filters and a host of other pieces and parts.
We tested the already great brakes in the video above. Maybe you want to hire us for the next tier of upgrades? Or just take the car as is, you will have a blast!
