NOW SOLD to Scott in California! Congratulations!!!
This is a special car, and if you want an MGA you can really use, this is worth serious consideration! In the summer of 2013, we extensively upgraded this car with a newly rebuilt MGB 1800 engine (with hardened valve seats for unleaded gas, plus a hotter cam) and a five-speed Ford transmission.
We put in like-new SU rebuilt carbs and electronic ignition as well as new white wall radials and chrome wire wheels. The result is a fantastic road- going machine. If you have driven MGAs before, you know that they really benefit from an overdrive, as they are wonderful and sexy cruising machines, made that much better by the Ford five-speed conversion. The fully synchronized gear box is a dream… so many MGA transmissions have worn synchros… but not here. This is a car anyone can drive. The gearbox is straightforward and unintimidating.
With all these great upgrades already done, I jumped at the chance to buy this car from its former home in Florida. And now it’s in our shop in Connecticut and ready for a new driver!
This car has the correct Mark 2 body styling, with the distinctive inset grill and horizontal tail lights used on this final series for the iconic MGA (the MGB was launched in 1963).
There is a good converitible top and I will try to get more pictures next week. This is just a teaser for those folks looking for a wonderful getaway convertible. This is a nice choice, with a lot of expensive upgrades already installed!
The car shows 14421 miles, about 1000 more than when the upgrades were done. So the engine and transmission are still virtually brand new.
Call or email if you’re interested in a beautifully upgraded MGA! She’s available for $29,995.
