Now sold to Jennifer in Florida!!! She is every dad’s dream… a daughter who would gift her parents a Bugeye for Father’s day! Jen, we salute you!!!
Meet “Prim,” a 1960 Sprite (AN5L 36149) that was completely restored about ten years ago and upgraded with a front disk brake conversion.
We have just taken the car to the next level and upgraded the car with a new five-speed Ford transmission.
The advantages of this great gearbox are many… you gain a fully synchronized gearset, which makes driving the car easy for any driver. It is very hard to grind the gears on these five speed gearboxes, so there is a minimal intimidation quotient! Plus, you gain an overdrive fifth gear, which makes cruising at any speed quieter and more pleasant. Even at 45 MPH, fifth gear cruising is a dream, and you’ll find conversation easier, engine wear reduced, and in general, a more stress-free driving experience.
You’ll also find these Ford transmissions quite stout, and seemingly indestructible. Built for a much heavier Ford Sierra in Europe, the gearbox is overbuilt for the job of moving your Bugeye, yet fits the tunnel nicely. These are far more durable than the original British equipment.
Every Bugeye should have a five speed if we had our way… and here is a chance to purchase a fully restored and stock looking car with a concealed five speed that, to most, looks stock in the cockpit. We go through great lengths to hide the five speed shifter in the original four speed shift tower so the cockpit (and the entire car) still looks stock.
42,986 miles show on the clock of this Sprite. New footwell floor pans were installed during this car’s restoration. The body is quite solid. The paint looks great. Interior is great too!
A nifty period ammeter also adorns the dashboard.
The fuel pump was upgraded to an electric unit. The car is also fit with a period exhaust header. With the five speed, the car was also fit with a brand new clutch.
We just fit a new top to the car. A nice tonneau is also present (as shown in the photos), along with original side curtains (which need restoration). The original jack is included, along with a good original spare tire. The boot looks nice with the correct factory inner fiber board panels.
She’s a joy to drive, clean and shiny, and a very solid car with one of the best upgrades we have. Please send an email or call if you would like to own this car!
She’s available for $29,995
