We had the pleasure of completely dismantling this car this week, so it can be revived and made wonderful again. This is “Billy” the Bugeye, who came to us from Lenexa, Kansas, for complete restoration. We picked up this car in an enclosed trailer and will completely restore it before we load it back into a trailer bound for Kansas and a new lease on life.
The car was sent by Kirk to honor the memory of his father, who sold BMC sportscars professionally in 1959 and then purchased this car in 1974. It has been in the family ever since.
You can see the fabrication and metal work that lies ahead in the pictures above and below. The car will be completely media blasted next week, and then rebuilding will begin!
One thing we wanted to share before the car was sent off to be stripped is a selection of original interior features, which are rare to find. For example, you can see the proper factory way to stow the top bows in the photo below.
