If you like barn-find cars and want something you can drive right now, you might give this car serious consideration. This is CC, our “Company Car.” Our new mechanic Terry gave the car this name because he wants it (after refreshing this car, he became attached)! But his 64 VW bus gets the one garage space in the family, and thus CC is for sale.
We started with a hibernating barn find car that has not run in years. Terry spent several days bringing it back to life, first replacing the fuel tank (not shown) and fuel sender with an upgraded metal float (fuel gauge now works), and then replacing all the hydraulics to revive the clutch and brake system. The fuel lines and carbs were cleaned and flushed and the car now runs and drives quite nicely. Check out the video below!
Tires and battery were replaced last year by the prior owner, who had hoped to bring back the car, but never got to it. Company Car won our hearts because it is a car with great potential that was fun to bring back to life, and now it shows great promise to find a good new home and be seen out on the roads once again.
The engine is stong, the transmission shifts nicely and the car can be driven as is, which was Terry’s intent if his old VW bus wasn’t filling his extra garage… As with most of these cars, there is more work to do to make it a regular driver, EG the radius arm bushings should be changed, and the front shocks are a bit soft. We can do that work for the new owner if they so desire.
Or, CC will be restored by its new steward… the paint is weathered. The body shows very little rust on the top sides, which is one reason why it is easy to imagine keeping the car as is. The underside, while solid, does have a few rust holes, but nothing that would stop anyone from enjoying this car exactly as it sits. We have no info about the engine build, but the Isky cam plaque on the dash is promising, and the car is quite quick, which would seem to indicate that the engine has been warmed up with a few mods. Oil pressure is quite good, with no smoke. The car is quite useable and fun to drive as is!
This Bugeye wears AN5L 40960, and is equipped with 948 CC engine 9c uh 46486 and original drum brakes. 35,577 miles shows on the odometer. There is some damage to the rear deck, presumably from people sitting on it in parades, but this is fortunately concealed by the tonneau. This damage can be repaired if and when the car is repainted.
