We are excited to have launched a “sympathetic” restoration of one family’s original Bugeye. This car was purchased new in 1960 and restored by father and son in the mid 80s. We are selectively restoring it and refreshing the period accesories that one original owner acquired along the way. As such, we are cleaning not replacing the period door pockets, shift knob and tail pipe that were fit in the 70s and 80s. The car was last on the road in 1987. It will be for sale here soon!
One of the first orders of business was restoration of the battery tray. This is a frequent rust area and turns out to be the only area on this particular car that needed a rust repair. In the photos that follow, you can see Russ cutting out and then welding in a new tray, top and bottom. This new piece will keep this car’s lead battery supported for many years to come. We have new battery trays for sale for your project, should you need one. Click here to get yours today.
