Here’s an update on the Leaf green Austin Healey Bugeye tub we last shared as we prepared it for welding. In that post, we showed it with masking tape calling out extra holes that needed to be welded-up.
In these photos, you can see the chassis mounted to a rotisserie and the floor pans stripped away, with the supporting structure visible underneath. Above you can see the passenger side leaf spring mount at the bottom of the picture, as well as the front frame bumper mounts at the top of the screen (in case you are having trouble getting your bearings). The team is now preparing this framework to receive the new floor panels. Some of those supporting crossmembers will need small patches, or replacement, but the foundation is excellent with great support already in place for the new floor pans.
Next up, complete new floor pans will go in on both sides. Rather than remove and patch portions of the floor, we removed all of both of them, for the neatest and nicest job! More pictures are posted below of various underside areas, as the restoration progresses…
