Phoenix is a cool Bugeye that we sold a few years ago to a great car couple in Colorado, and now this car is back to find a new home. This is a one-of-a-kind Bugeye, with the right dose of nostalgia and fun, speed (stripes) and stately manner (white walls). As always, click any photo to enlarge it for a closer look. You’ll like what you see–this is a very solid car with a very nice paint job! He’s stunning! And new black seat covers with red piping have just been added, along with new foam. Seats are mint! The car also comes with a very nice four year-old top, tonneau and side curtains, all of which looks nearly new. Top and side curtains come in Bugeyeguy pouches, one reason why that gear still looks so good after mostly living in the boot for four years. Also included are nice plush Austin Healey floor mats and great three point retractable seat belts.

This would be the car I would vote for at a people’s choice car show, because it demonstrates a creative interpretation of a classic, while referring to period correct modifications and graphics. You just might have seen a Bugeye with adorned with white walls and stripes just like Phoenix at a weekend racing event in the 60s.
Phoenix has a 1275 engine and disk brakes. He accelerates quickly with a great exhaust note, and stops quickly when you need to. We’ve installed new front brake calipers and re-bushed and completely rebuilt and tuned the twin SU carburetors, for a smooth idle and optimal acceleration. We’ve just detailed the engine bay and the power plant looks better than ever under the flip-forward nose.
Phoenix looks racy with red wheels… he also comes with proper AH chrome hubcaps, for a more sophisticated look. He puts ’em on when dinner reservations are made. You can see Phoenix with and without hubcaps in his photo album. Of course, you can leave them on full time if you prefer the chrome look. And Minilight wheels are another option, to make the car look racier still.
Video Exterior Tour! (Note: new seats shown in photos are current, all black seats in video have been replaced, see photos below)
He has a very nice interior with a beautifully restored original steering wheel and nice dashboard and seats. Everything works just as it should. The underside is excellent and was restored with all new sheet metal. He has a flip- forward nose for exceptional engine access and ease of service. He also has excellent bonnet latches hidden in the front wheel arches. These are a nice innovation for latching the nose so it doesn’t rattle. White wall tires are Firestone radials and are nearly new.
Phoenix came from South Florida where the car was restored. He has a brand new chrome grill, as well as a new gas tank and an electric fuel pump upgrade. He also has new steering rack boots and tie-rod ends. Chrome mirrors are mounted in the windshield frame. This is a nice way to avoid having to drill into the nose of the car to mount fender mirrors, and because they are stalk mounted, they work particularly well to help the driver see a wide area of surrounding traffic.
We’ve gone through the entire car and now Phoenix is ready for your garage. Please note that the current interior has red piping, some of the pictures show the older all black interior.
If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind Bugeye, Phoenix is worth serious consideration!
