This is “Russ the Mechanic.” While he looks a bit nutty with this freshly extracted blown head gasket in his hand, he is actually quite serious about making our cars the best they can be. He shows up every day ready to improve upon British vehicles, with an undying dedication to making the best possible product, and for that I am exceptionally grateful. He is also the one guy I would invite were I on a deserted island (although I am not sure he would want to be stranded with me), because this guy is really good at figuring out how to solve complex problems with whatever he has available.
Russ has fixed cars all his life, and he’s the best mixed-make technician I have ever met. Occasionally, you can hear him on the morning show on WPLR radio in Connecticut, helping all souls diagnose the funny noises their cars might make. I was lucky enough to meet him about nine years ago, when we started fixing broken Bugeyes together in my home garage. From there we moved to our first shop for about six years and now to our new quonset hut, where Russ has now tuned his 178th pair of SU carburetors. I think he now has it figured out!
Thank you Russ for everything you have brought to our growing business and for the great work you have done on at least 178 Bugeye Sprites, now scattered throughout the world!
