Here’s a project car (AN5L 18068) that has been sitting inside since July of 1971. It is a mostly complete car that’s a two-owner Bugeye that has relatively few miles since it was only on the road for about ten years before being stored.
The car was media blasted back in 1971 and never re-coated, so the surface rust will need to be ground off once again. You can plan on a complete restoration but it’s a great candidate and we can provide tech support and parts to help bring the car to life as quickly as possible!
What makes this car such a good candidate for restoration is a straight frame with no crash damage to the tub and good floors in the spring box and rear bulkhead area. It looks crusty but the car is quite solid underneath, and with minimal perforations. I would media blast the whole thing (again) and then patch the rear fender bottoms, rocker panels as needed and passenger footwell…
