Now sold to Bob M! Nice work, it’s a wonderful car!
Gerry Update! Ron was all set to trade in his cool orange Elise to bring Gerry home but at the last minute chose “Rose” instead! So Gerry is for sale again and we now also have a great low mileage never-tracked Elise for sale. For Ron, we put in a new combo gauge and timing cover to fix an oil leak, so the car keeps getting better.
This is “Gerry” (AN5L 47448), an awesome Bugeye built in 1960 and first titled when new in 1961, and owned by the same guy since 1965 (he purchased it from the original owner). He built a great car with an uprated 1275 engine (more below), rear tube shocks, chrome wire wheels, and front and rear disk brakes. It’s great to drive and looks beautiful! The car was named after Gerry Coker, and is a fitting tribute to the man who penned the Bugeye Sprite and AH 100. Come for a drive in the video below!
We’ve had Bugeyes of seemingly every color, and this one is one of the best. It is not a stock shade of green, but it just looks right on the car. Elegance is not a word used with Bugeyes, but I would have to say this is an elegant color on this car.
The car was painted throughout in 2009 on a rotisserie restoration from back to front and top to bottom. The underside is fully restored and beautifully painted to match the body.
The engine is a stock 1275 block with some impressive modifications, namely a Cooper 997 fast cam, BMC special tuning header, heavy duty valve springs, an uprated oil pump, aluminum flywheel, aluminum engine backing plate, electronic ignition, stainless steel exhaust system, vernier adjustable timing chain and 7.8 liter racing oil pan. The car runs great with ample power. The engine is also quite tractable, as you can see in the driving video… notice how I pull out of the parking lot in second gear at just a few miles per hour and take the engine straight up to 5000 rpms without a hiccup. The transmission has the BMC special tuning gear set installed, a neat period correct modification.
We bought this car this fall and completed an interior and cosmetic restoration. Dash board is well painted, with the original factory perforated radio panel still intact. Rear bumpers, caramel carpet, seats, door liners, and door pockets are all new. We also installed a premium lockheed slave cylinder and new master cylinder (not pictured). Tonneau is new stayfast canvas, Top is very nice, as are side curtains. We also installed a new water temp / oil pressure combo gauge, as well as a matching passenger side mirror.
This is a wonderful Bugeye for anyone looking for a faster, better braking and better looking Bugeye. Call or email if you are interested in having us ship you this fine car.
